Its official - Tau Kappa Epsilon is your 2009 Greek Week Champions!

Another spring as come and with it comes the annual Greek Week Competition.  The weeks event change slightly from year to year (with the exception of Greek Sing) but the purpose is still the same - to prove your dominance on campus.  This year’s events took place from April 13-18th around Towson’s campus.  Preparation generally starts weeks before hand by designing lyrics and routines for Greek Sing.  Adam Blake and Rick Logan took up the challenge this year to make TKE’s Greek Sing a success.  On Monday, April 13th - the IFC Fraternities and PanHel sororities gathered in the Towson Center Arena to kick off the week.  TKE chose a “Tom Cruise” theme this year and took bits and pieces from Risky Business, Cocktail, Top Gun and Jerry Maguire to wow the Greek Sing judges.  TKE stole the show and started off the week right by winning First Place again.

The week continued with several events including a Disaster Drill put on by the University and the College of Health Professions.  Greeks gathered on Burdick field to help simulate what would happen if a tornado hit the campus.  Complete with an Army helicopter circling the school and touching down on Burdick field the event was a success. 

The week ended on Saturday with Greek Olympics.  The Greeks gathered on Newell field near York Road with TKE, Sigma Pi and Phi Sigma Kappa neck and neck for first place.  TKE kept it fun by parading a TKE flag through the crowd and sporting a Greek Warrior helmet.  The events ranged from Egg Toss, Piggy Back Race, a Chariot Race, to Tug-O-War.  All of the fraternities gathered around the Tug-O-War arena and watched as TKE beat Phi Sigma Kappa and then Sigma Pi solidifying their Greek Week victory. 

The 2009 trophy now proudly sits next to our other recent accomplishments including the Chesapeake Cup and Top Teke Chapter.
